As our recently released Latin Power Players list shows, many top Latin music executives are musicians. But it’s not every day that one of those executives releases an album, much less an album of classical music -- much less an album of classical compositions performed by that executive.
Jorge Mejía, Sony ATV Music Publishing’s EVP for U.S. Latin and Latin America -- home to writers like Pitbull, Mario Domm and Enrique Iglesias -- just happens to be a classical pianist and composer. And on July 29, Mejía celebrated the release of his Preludes album with a performance at Art House, the Miami recording studio that belongs to producer Julio Reyes (Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin), who is also a pianist.
Mejia performs short, virtuoso, captivating pieces on solo piano, inspired by his mother, his grandmother, his wife, and life in general.
