Joan Sebastian

The music community took to social media to mourn the death of legendary Mexican singer and songwriter Joan Sebastian on Monday. Sebastian died in his ranch in Juliantla, in the state of Guerrero, Mexico, at the age of 64, after a 16-year battle with bone cancer.

Known as "El Rey del Jaripeo," Sebastian had fans across several generations and influenced countless singers, male and female, many of whom remembered him on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Alejandro Fernandez said, "A great teacher and friend has left us, a man who believed in dreams and always had a will to live. Thank you for so much, Joan."

Cristian Castro said, "I was fortunate to watch you sing while you rode your horses, you smiled at me and you stood directly before me. See you soon, Joan."

Angelica Vale: "So sad about the departure of the great Joan Sebastian! No one like you. We will miss you very much. Sad, very sad..."
