Latin alternative “cultural happening” coming to Hollywood Palladium in October.

A mix of classic and cutting-edge acts are set for the second edition of Los Angeles Latino-focused festival Supersonico, to be held at the Hollywood Palladium on Oct. 3.

Aterciopelados, Mala Rodriguez, Ximena Sariñana, Kinky and Nortec Collective’s Bostich and Fussible are among the notable names on the line-up, revealed exclusively to Billboard by festival organizer Cookman. They will be joined by Dengue, Dengue, Dengue, Chancha Via Circuito, El Mato a un Policia Motorizado, Mariachi El Bronx and other artists currently making an impact on the indie scene in Latin America and the U.S.

Supersonico, a “multi-lingual, multi-genre, multi-stage, cultural happening” which was conceived as a sort of Coachella for the Latin market, sold out its 2014 debut at L.A.’s Shrine Expo Hall and Grounds.

Promoter Tomas Cookman, who founded the now iconic Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) and is the owner of alt-Latino label Nacional Records, partnered with Goldenvoice for that event. This year, Cookman is holding the one-day festival at the historic Palladium, a Live Nation venue.

“There will be 8000 people having a great Saturday afternoon and evening of music, art, food, drinks, etc.” Cookman told Billboard. “Putting on a festival like Supersonico is something that should have been done a long time ago but for whatever reason, was not.”

LAMC, the annual meet-up for Latin Alternative fans on the east coast, now in its 16th year, will take place July 7-11 in New York City.
