Group Becomes Twitter Trending Topic After Show Announcement

System of a Down became a twitter trending topic in Colombia on March 7, minutes after the group announced it would play its first ever concert in that country. The SOAD show, part of the group's "Wake up the Souls" world tour won't take place until October 3--210 days away--but Twitter was nevertheless abuzz about the visit, which will be SOAD's first to Colombia.

The group will also play several dates in Rio de Janeiro in September as part of Rock In Rio.

The Bogota show, presented by Move Concerts, is slated to take place in the city's s outdoor Parque Deportivo, with tickets selling for approximately $57 for general admission and $111 for VIP, per today's currency conversion rate. Tickets officially go on sale March 13 on

Move Concert is also bringing Katy Perry for a Colombia performance, also slated for Parque Deportivo on Oct. 9, less than a week after SOAD.

The proximity of both shows underscores the growing viability of South America as a touring arena, particularly in countries like Colombia which don't have a longstanding tradition of hosting international touring acts.
