Mexican pop star travels to Havana for concert by famed folk singer.
"Ojos Color Sol," a collaboration with famed Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodriguez was the sleeper hit of Calle 13's 2015 Grammy-nominated album Multi_Viral. The ballad rose to no. 1 on Billboard's Real Time Twitter Chart and was up for Latin Grammy song of the year.

Now Mexican pop star Cristian Castro is set to record cover versions of Rodriguez's songs, according to Cuban and Mexican media reports. Castro was recently in Havana, where he attended a free outdoor concert Rodriguez gave on Jan 9. (Diego Maradona had a front row seat at the same show.)
The Mexican pop star tweeted lyrics from Rodriguez's song "El Necio" under a photo of himself with the Cuban legend.
Castro previously recorded two tribute albums honoring Mexican singer Jose Jose, both of which reached no. 1 on Top Latin Albums.
Last year's Calle 13 recording with Rodriguez and Enrique Iglesias' mega hit "Bailando," featuring Cubans Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona, both made apparent the significant potential for collaborations with Cuban artists, who have long been out of the spotlight in the U.S.
With the anticipated loosening of the American embargo against Cuba, expect more artists to be traveling to the island to explore relations with musicians there this year.
