Romeo Santos' 'Formula: Vol. 2' leads as Latin's biggest selling album, while Enrique Iglesias' 'Bailando' is the top selling song.

Romeo Santos easily outpaces the rest of the Latin industry at the top of the mid-year Latin Nielsen SoundScan sales charts. The singer's new "Formula, Vol. 2," has shifted 193,000 copies this year -- the only Latin effort to have sold more than 100,000 in 2014.

Through the week ending June 29 -- the half-way point of SoundScan's tracking year -- just three Latin albums have sold more than 50,000 copies. A year ago at this point, there were five titles. (However, of those, four were by the late Jenni Rivera, whose death the previous December rocked the Latin music world. Rivera had the top four selling Latin albums at this point a year ago, and finished 2013 with the Nos. 2-5, 8 and 10 best-selling titles.)

As for Santos and his 2014 achievements, the tropical music sensation's album debuted at No. 1 on the weekly Top Latin Albums chart with 85,000 sold in its first week -- the largest debut for a Spanish-language album since 2006 (RBD's "Celestial," with 117,000).

Santos' "Odio" (featuring Drake) has sold 147,000 downloads this year, landing as the second-biggest Latin digital song of the year.

Enrique Iglesias's "Sex and Love" follows Santos the year's second-biggest Latin album, moving 79,000 copies since its release in March.

Jenni Rivera is the only female on the list of top 10 selling Latin albums, coming in with the sixth-biggest sales figure (37,000) with "1969 - Siempre: En Vivo Desde Monterrey: Parte 1."

Looking at the highest ranking digital songs of 2014, Iglesias’ hit "Bailando," featuring Descemer Bueno & Gente de Zona, stands as the best selling digital track of the year, with 221,000 downloads.

Six songs have crossed the 100,000 downloads mark, one more than last year when only half of the top 10 had sold more than six figures.

Overall Latin album sales volume decreased by 19 percent to 3.47 million -- from 4.31 million a year ago. In terms of Latin digital song sales, the genre was down by 4 percent --to 10.68 million from 11.13 million.
