To help ring in the release of her new album "Shakira" on Tuesday (Mar. 25), Shakira unveiled the official music video to second single "Empire," which finds the Colombian superstar ditching the altar to prance around in a meadow and burn bright -- as in, she's literally on fire.
When Shakira enters a church in a gorgeous wedding dress, but gets some last-second jitters and turns around, toward a pristine countryside in which she can run free. Shakira eventually returns to the scene of the fleeing, but she re-enters the church in a low-cut black dress, and begins flailing while lip-synching to the epic pop-rock ballad.
One interesting detail of the "Empire" video: when Shakira steps inside the church to get married, there's no groom waiting for her at the altar! Maybe it's because the singer's boyfriend, soccer star Gerard Pique, does not allow her to make music videos starring other men as romantic interests.
"Empire" has yet to enter the Hot 100 chart, while "Shakira's" lead single, the Rihanna duet "Can't Remember To Forget You," clocked in at No. 31 on last week's tally. "Shakira" also features collaborations with Magic! and "The Voice" co-star Blake Shelton.
