BTS released a rare political statement on Wednesday (June 4), standing in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
"We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together. #BlackLivesMatter," the K-pop boy band tweeted to their more than 26 million followers. (The message was also available in the band's native Korean.)
The septet's tweet comes just days after K-pop fans banded together to stomp out a "White Lives Matter" movement on social media, flooding the hashtag with K-pop memes, fan-cam footage and other content to successfully drown out the campaign's racist, anti-BLM messaging.
