K-pop star Park Bom will release her first single since 2011 next week. One quarter of the powerhouse Korean girl group 2NE1, which disbanded in 2016, Park’s new single “Spring” will preview her first EP of the same name.

Both will be released on March 13, just shy of eight years to the day from when the star released her last song, “Don’t Cry” on April 21, 2011. “Spring” will feature former 2NE1 bandmate Sandara Park.

The new song was teased with a floral-imbued teaser video released on Wednesday (March 6), featuring the soloist on her own amid flowers and industrial spaces as her vibrant tone can be heard singing a titular verse of the song.

Park, often known mononymously by her first name, Bom, which means “spring” in Korean, is returning with her seasonally-inspired music after years of being absent from the global music scene. In 2014, her career was put on hold after she became embroiled in a legal situation surrounding her alleged smuggling of medically-prescribed amphetamine pills from the United States, where they can be prescribed to treat attention deficit disorder (ADD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), into South Korea, where they are illegal. She has since parted ways with former label YG Entertainment, and is currently signed to D-Nation.

2NE1 released numerous hits throughout their career together, and landed their final album, 2014's Crush, on the Billboard 200 at the peak of No. 61 on the chart dated March 15, 2014. The group, sans fourth member Minzy, released the final single "Goodbye" in 2017.
