Over on Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart, LOONA earns their seond Top 10 entry as [X X] lead single "Butterfly" debuts at No. 6 with 1,000 copies sold in the week ending Feb. 21. To date, LOONA has earned three entires on World Digital Song Sales as a full group with 2018 singles "Favorite" (which peaked at No. 4, the group's highest so far), "Hi High" (which peaked at No. 11) and, now in 2019, "Butterfly." Several of LOONA's solo member singles and sub-units have also entered World Digital Song Sales as well.
Despite a technically boasting a young age as a full group, LOONA has been in the works for more than two years. Longtime fans have been patient as the act began teasing itself in mid-2106, revealing a new member and releasing her own solo music throughout the next eighteen months until their August 2018 debut as their final 12-member lineup.
As previously mentioned, several LOONA members have earned solo or sub-unit entires on the charts making their quick rise as a full-fledged group all the more expected and all the more exciting to watch. As long as their exploration of otherworldly synth-pop confections continues like it does on [X X] -- "Butterfly" finds a way to match Mariah Carey whistle tones with while "Colors" moves multiple layers of harmonies over twinkly, pulsating percussion -- LOONA should continue to be a chart force to watch.
