BLACKPINK Announce World Tour

K-pop girl group BLACKPINK are gearing up to dominate 2019, announcing a world tour that will bring the quartet to many fans’ areas.

BLACKPINK's company YG Entertainment announced on Wednesday (Jan. 9) that the "In Your Area" 2019 world tour has plans to head to North America, Europe, and Australia. The dates and amount of shows planned for each continent have yet to be announced.

The stops in the three regions will follow several tour dates already planned throughout Asia. BLACKPINK launched the tour series in Seoul in November.

BLACKPINK made history last year, when their single “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” and album Square Up became the highest-charting pair ever from a K-pop girl group the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts, peaking at No. 55 and No. 40, respectively. Their collaboration “Kiss and Make Up” with Dua Lipa also charted on the Hot 100 last year, peaking at No. 93.

The popular quartet got its start in 2016 with breakout singles “Whistle” and “Boombayah,” and has seen major success since. It is made up of four members, Rosé, Lisa, Jisoo, and Jennie, the last of whom recently topped the World Digital Song Sales chart with her single “Solo.”

The news comes just days after BLACKPINK were announced as part of Coachella’s 2019 lineup. Stay tuned for dates.
