"Love Shot" acts as a follow-up single to EXO's recently released full-length album, Don't Mess Up My Tempo, which peaked at No. 23 on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart. It made the outfit the second-highest charting Korean act ever on the tally. Previous to "Love Shot," EXO had earned No. 1s on the World Digital Song Sales chart with 2016 singles "Monster" and "Lotto."
Elsewhere, new EXO songs "Trauma" and "Wait" also bow on this week's World Digital Songs chart at Nos. 8 and 14, respectively. EXO now have 43 top 10 entries on the chart, the second-most top 10s of any act in World Digital Songs history. To date, EXO's biggest week for a single was on the Sept. 10, 2016-dated chart when "Lotto" debuted at No. 1 and sold 8,000 downloads.
Remarkably, this is also the third week K-pop super label SM Entertainment has ruled World Digital Song Sales with three different artists. The streak began on the chart dated Dec. 8, 2018, when boy band NCT 127's "Simon Says" debuted at No. 1, continued last week when girl group Red Velvet's "RBB (Really Bad Boy)" landed at the top spot and sees its third week with the EXO guys. While other K-pop labels have been No. 1 for multiple weeks at a time, never has a Korean label held multi-week, chart-topping streak with three different acts.
Elsewhere on the charts, "Love Shot" also hits No. 25 on the YouTube Music chart, the band's fourth entry to date. EXO's highest peak on the chart is No. 13 with "Tempo," from November.
Below, watch the guys bring "Love Shot" to life with one of the first live performances of the song on Korean music program KBS Music Bank.
