Chung Ha Discusses Going Solo & 'Love U,' Shows Off Some Choreography: Watch

For someone only two years into her career, Chung Ha has done a lot: As one of the winners of the first season of the South Korean competition show Produce 101, she saw immense popularity as a member of the temporary girl group I.O.I and has since gone on to be a chart-topping soloist in her own right with her breezy brand of vivacious dance tracks.

A skilled dancer and singer, she recently released her Blooming Blue album and performed some of her songs -- plus a cover dance set to Ariana Grande's "God is a Woman"-- at KCON 2018 LA, where she sat down with Billboard to discuss her career.

Unlike most young K-pop stars, Chung Ha had a unique opportunity to be part of a prominent girl group and then pursue music on her own. "I get to know my voice more, and then I get to put my choreo into it more," the 22-year-old says about how she's been able to explore her own style as a soloist.

About her latest single “Love U,” Chung Ha says it’s a “pool party” song, which suits her perfectly. “It has a summer vibe. It's summer. I love partying, I love to party." She also shows off some of her heart-shaped choreography.

Watch the interview with Chung Ha above, during which she talks about performing at KCON 2018 LA and picks which of her singles correspond to different times of day.
