Nicki Minaj Features On Alternate Version Of BTS' New Single 'Idol': Listen

Two hours prior to its release, BTS’ label Big Hit Entertainment announced that Nicki Minaj would appear on a version of the group’s new single “Idol.”

“Idol” is the lead track on BTS’ highly-anticipated Love Yourself: Answer. The Minaj version is now available digitally today (Aug. 24), but is not featured on the physical album, which will include a version of the single featuring the septet on its own.

According to an article published in the Seoul Economic Daily, BTS reached out to the Queen rapper after completing Love Yourself: Answer, and she accepted their offer to appear as a featured singer.

Rumors of the collaboration began this week on Wednesday (Aug. 22), when a video of someone Shazam-ing the teaser video for BTS’ “Idol” first appeared on social media, revealing that the song was listed as “Idol” feat. Nicki Minaj. Later that day, Minaj “liked” some related tweets.

The compilation album Love Yourself: Answer is the final part of BTS’ Love Yourself series, and will feature both new music and songs featured on September’s Love Yourself: Her and May’s Billboard 200 chart-topper Love Yourself: Tear.
