K-pop’s BTOB Blue released their first single in two years yesterday (Aug. 2). "When It Rains' is a gentle ballad with R&B leanings.

With a soft melody driven by gentle percussion and dramatic keys, "When It Rains" grows in intensity, with strings, vocal harmonizing, and eventually electric guitar joining in as the quartet of singers expressively deliver the lyrics. The track eventually builds into a soaring tune overflowing with desperate passion as the boy band's members reflect on how rain reminds them of a the last night they spent together with a former lover.

BTOB Blue is a sub-unit of Korean boy band BTOB, which has also grown in prominence in South Korea due to their pop ballads. It consists of vocalists Seo Eunkwang, Lee Changsub, Im Hyunsik and Yook Sungjae. “When It Rains” is the group's second single, following 2016's "Stand By Me."

The four appear in the song's music video, where the sing amid the rain and seek solace in one another and simple pleasures as they get over their sorrow.

BTOB most recently released their album This Is Us in June, which went to No. 15 on the World Albums chart.
