Korean Girl Group EXID Talk About Their Friendship
After their single “Up & Down” went viral a few years ago, K-pop girl group EXID rose to prominence as one of the industry's top acts. At KCON 2018 NY this weekend, rapper-songwriter LE said that their struggles before the breakout helped the quintet bond with one another.
"We spent our hardships together,” she said during the STAR Live Talk with Billboard on June 23, referring to the act’s first two years, which saw little success. “And before we were actually famous, we were able to go through all the times together. That's why our friendship became something stronger."
The group, which now features LE, Hani, Hyelin, Jeonghwa and absent member Solji, started in 2012 with a few different members, but saw a surge of popularity in late 2014 with the current team thanks to their hit “Up & Down.” They ended their set at the headlining concert later that night with the track and also performed hits like “Lady,” “D.D.D” and “ Night Rather Than Day.”
