Zion. T released non-album single “Snow” with legendary singer Lee Moon Sae on Monday (Dec. 4), adding an air of sentimentality to the oncoming winter season.

The slow-moving music video stars Reply 1988 actor Ahn Jae Hong, who books a room at a hotel as the song opens with lush orchestration.

Ahn starts slow-dancing with himself, picking up a coat hanger covered in a woman’s clothing. As he turns a corner, the dreamlike quality of the music video transforms the coat hanger into a woman. The dance sequence highlights the waltz-like nature of the song.

The interplay of Zion. T’s unique vocal colors and Lee Moon Sae’s weightier vocalizations works well. As the surrounding instrumentation swells, the duet remains softly sung on both ends, adding gravity to both the lyricism and the music video’s storyline.

Zion. T is gifted at creating intimate vignettes through scenery. The changed seasons emphasize the lyricist’s attempt to hold onto a relationship: “You just have to stay with me/ I promised/ Will it snow?”

His capacity to locate profundity in everyday descriptions is a lyrical trick that recalls “Yanghwa BRDG,” a hit that helped him make his mark in the mainstream Korean music scene.

According to Soompi, “Snow” rose to No. 1 on several Korean real-time charts, including Melon, Genie, Bugs, Mnet, Naver and Soribada.

When Zion. T’s contract with Amoeba Culture ended, he signed on with YG Entertainment sub-label, THE BLACK LABEL. He released his first EP with the label, OO, in January.
