The lead vocalists of K-pop boy band Seventeen released the sentimental “Pinwheel” on Sunday (Oct. 15), bringing the group’s month-long Before Al1 series to a close.

The echoing ballad is the fourth song issued as part of Seventeen’s Before Al1 project, which began in September. “Pinwheel” comes just a few weeks before Seventeen’s upcoming album, planned for Nov. 6.

While the previous releases -- “Change Up,” “Trauma” and “13th Month’s Dance (Lilili Yabbay)”-- were more uptempo and electronically-driven, “Pinwheel” is the sort of lilting song that fans have come to expect from Seventeen’s primary vocalists. Jeonghan, Joshua, D.K, Seungkwan, and Woozi, who has writing credit on many of the act’s songs, evocatively deliver the track’s building harmonies, with piano and percussion elements building the main melody.

Paired with a music video overflowing with hazily verdant scenes while the members sing about their lost love --"Many things happening, suffocatingly busy/ Because of this kind of world, we drifted apart" -- the song, with its uplifting yet mellow styling, is all at once filled with sadness and hope.

Seventeen, who closed out one of the night’s of KCON 2017 LA -- the largest annual stateside K-pop event -- in August, is a rising boy band in the K-pop industry, gaining recognition for its members’ diversity in talent. The Before Al1 project bridged their most recent album Al1 and the upcoming release, with each subunit of the 13-member band plus an additional team made up of those unit’s leaders putting out a song and music video to tide fans over.
