Video clips show the K-pop idol emotively dancing to music overflowing with a grimy '80s pop-rock vibe.

October is gearing up to be a competitive month for K-pop and one of the industry’s most prominent soloists has announced that he’s joining the fray.

On Monday, SM Entertainment unveiled a new Twitter account for its boy band SHINee, where it began teasing the solo return of band member Taemin (Lee Taemin), whose last Korean album was released over a year and a half ago. The new album, Move, will be released on Oct. 16.

Like past releases from Taemin, the teaser videos suggests Move will be predominantly based around performance elements, showing the singer emotively dancing with a backing track overflowing with a grimy '80s pop-rock vibe.

The short Move promo clips suggest fans will see several different sides of Taemin on the new album, showing him dramatically performing in a variety of scenes and situations. He even dons a full face mask during certain scenes to create a haunting visual that matches the stirring, occasionally creepy, types of dances that Taemin has showcased in the past.

As one-fifth of SHINee, Taemin has become one of South Korea’s most successful singers. But it’s his solo work, particularly his dance-focused performances, have been the highlight of the K-pop idol’s career throughout recent years.

Since his debut solo EP, Ace, in 2014 with the single “Danger,” Taemin has integrated his dynamic flair for drama into his songs and performances. By blending interpretive elements with the fluid choreography typified by SHINee, the 24-year-old’s solo work has seen much applause, with both Ace and last year’s Press It ranking No. 2 on the World Albums chart, while his his two Japanese EPs have also been well-received on Japan’s local charts.

In the past, Taemin has garnered attention for releasing choreography-focused videos rather than more traditional music videos for songs and his participation in a Korean competition show called Hit The Stage further displayed his talent that surpasses what is typically perceived as cookie cutter K-pop dance performances.

?Taemin is part of a new generation of K-pop idols who are pursuing solo careers simultaneously to their role as being part of an idol act -- and pushing the limits of what it means to be an idol while doing so. With his distinct theatrical flair he has poised himself as a leader in K-pop idols when it comes to dance and the teaser video for Move show that he’s not planning on stopping anytime soon.
