EXO's Chanyeol Teams Up With Junggigo on 'Let Me Love You'
It’s not easy getting the girl when you’re a giant bug-monster, but it looks easy in the music video for “Let Me Love You.” The single, a duet featuring EXO’s Chanyeol and popular R&B and ballad singer Junggigo, was released Wednesday (Feb. 22) as part of Starship Entertainment’s ongoing collaboration project.
The lighthearted song is a melodic love confession, with the two vocalists serenading the object of their affection and telling her why she’s The One. As far as Korean ballads go, “Let Me Love You” hits all the right notes: It features a playful, swaying rhythm with a simple, clapping beat paired with sweet crooning courtesy of Junggigo and, surprisingly enough, Chanyeol. While known primarily for his deep vocal-tone while rapping, Chanyeol -- who lent his flow last year to Far East Movement’s “Freal Luv” collab with Tinashe and Marshmello -- appears as a soft-spoken balladeer in “Let Me Love You.”
Although neither Junggigo nor Chanyeol appear in the music video for "Let Me Love You," it does feature a romantic story between two actors on the set of what appears to be a B-list knock-off of Power Rangers (or perhaps Power Rangers’ source material, Japan's Super Sentai). The comical team of superheroes wear mustache-embellished helmets, a nod to the video’s production team Mustache Films, as they try to defeat a cockroach-costumed villain played by a bumbling actor who falls for the soft-hearted actress playing the pink ranger.
“Let Me Love You,” co-produced by Junggigo, Brother Su and Aev, is one of a string of romantic duets released by Starship Entertainment this month. February began with rapper Mad Clown collaborating with indie girl group Bolbbalgan4 on “Lost Without You,” while Valentine’s Day saw Chanyeol’s fellow EXO member Baekhyun teamed up with Sistar’s Soyou for “Rain.”
