John Legend will perform at one of the biggest nights for K-pop at the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards (a.k.a. MAMA). The R&B star joins acts including G-Dragon, EXO, Taeyang, SISTAR, IU and many more all confirmed for the award show that can be likened to Asia's response to the MTV Video Music Awards.
Taking place Dec. 3 in Hong Kong, Legend will appear and perform at the ceremony that last year honored Stevie Wonder, where the legendary musician performed a duet with SISTAR member Hyolyn and Chinese singer/actor Aaron Kwok, and featured performances from Icona Pop, Ylvis and Paris Hilton.
This year was big for K-pop ballads with Taeyang's "Eyes, Nose, Lips," Park Hyo Shin's "Wildflowers" and Hyolyn's "Goodbye" all topping the K-Pop Hot 100 making the crooner a perfect fit this year. Keep your fingers crossed for a duet with an Asian singer or two as Wonder did last year.
According to Mnet, 2014 MAMA has generated more than 10 million fan votes from 210 countries in Asia, North America, South America, Africa, Australia and Europe. Fans can vote in categories like Best Male Artist, Best Female Group, Best Collaboration, Best New Artist and more. Female soloist Ailee earned the most nods with six nominations while legendary K-pop act Seo Taiji snagged five.
English-language, Asian-entertainment TV network Mnet America will air 2014 MAMA on its cable channel and host a livestream via a mini-site for talk show Danny From LA and on YouTube, watch below.
