K-Pop Hot 100: SISTAR 19 Debuts at No. 1, 4Men and BoA Go Top 10
SISTAR19, the sub-unit group of SISTAR, seizes control of K-Pop Hot 100 this week. The sexy duo -- comprised of SISTAR's main vocal Hyorin and rapper Bora -- captures the No. 1 spot with their slow-tempo, hip-hop number, "Gone Not Around Any Longer."
Their huge debut bumps down BAE CHI GI and Ailee’s two-week reign, as well as Leessang & CNBLUE’s effort to snatch the coveted spot. SISTAR19 successfully hypnotized music fans with a perfect mix of Hyorin’s husky vocal prowess, Bora’s soft, rhythmic rapping along with sensual choreography. SISTAR19’s enticing music video, directed by famed Joo Hee Sun (SISTAR’s “Alone,” Son Dam Bi’s “Crazy,” and After School’s “Bang!”), gathered close to 3 million clicks since its release on January 30. In it, the pair fume sexiness, expressing a girl’s painful transformation into a womanhood after experiencing love and subsequent breakup. SISTAR19 is feeling a ton of love this week from music fans with tracks from their EP charting this week including the funky electro-pop track “A Girl In Love” at No. 12 and intro track “SISTAR 19” at No. 60. Amazingly, their debut single "Ma Boy," released in 2011, is at No. 77 showing the high amount of digital copies sold of the new EP.
The three-member vocal group 4Men’s newest track “Hello It’s Me,” enters the top 10 at No. 7 from No. 17 this week. 4Men broke their one-year and seven-month hiatus by releasing their heavily anticipated fifth LP titled, “The True Story,” on Jan. 28th. The dramatic ballad piece, which was composed and written by VIBE’s Yoon Min Soo and co-written by Min Yeon Jae, expresses a man’s longing and sincere concern for his past lover.
Ultra famous solo singer BoA returns to the Top 10 this week with her new single “Disturbance.” The track was released as to celebrate of BoA’s first solo concerts that held in late January Despite a hugely successful career that spans almost 13 years, BoA had never held a solo concert. She had performed with her labelmates like Girls’ Generation, SHINee and f(x) at various concerts, but never her own in Korea. “Disturbance” is a mid-tempo R&B track with subtle synthsizers in the background. The track sounds a bit similar to her comeback track “Only One” from this summer, though a little less cheery. The music video, which co-stars Taemin from popular boyband SHINee, has already racked up 3.5 million views since its release on Jan. 27.
Elsewhere on the chart, young solo singer Ailee continues to make hit after hit with her new soundtrack single "Ice Flower" rushing up to No. 11 this week (from No. 31), this week's second biggest jump. As well, the K-Pop Hot 100 may finally be saying goodbye to "Gangnam Style" as PSY's global hit falls from No. 80 to No. 98 this week in its 30th week on the chart.
