Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci (born Rayshawn Bennett), 29, was booked into Fulton County jail on Wednesday (Jan. 13) in connection with a Dec. 10 shooting in Atlanta.

A spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department confirmed to Billboard that Bennett turned himself in, but said due to the seriousness of the charges they would not discuss any details until his first hearing in the matter.

According to police, 28-year-old James Adams was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his head before dying at a local hospital a short time later in the incident. A second man, Kevin Wright, 32, survived after being transported to a local fire station with a non-fatal gunshot wound to the abdomen that police believe is linked to the Adams shooting.

In a video announcement, the Atlanta Police Department said that following an "exhaustive investigation," three people were identified as suspects in the shooting. Two other men were apprehended in Miami as part of the investigation.

In the video Atlanta PD posted on Wednesday, they said they were still searching for Lucci, who turned himself in afterwards to face a charge of felony murder, as well as aggravated assault, participation in criminal street gang activity and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

"The presumption of innocence is a fundamental constitutional right for every citizen. Beyond this, we have no further comment at this time," the rapper's attorney, Thomas Reynolds, said in a statement to CNN; at press time Reynolds had not returned Billboard's request for comment.

Lucci was featured on OMB Peezy's "Hustle," which hit streaming services a week after the alleged shooting and dropped his Wish Me Well 3 mixtape on Dec. 4.

A spokesperson for the rapper's label had not returned a request for comment at press time.
