Ty Dolla $ign paid tribute to one of his favorite bands by covering Nirvana's top 10 hit "Smells Like Teen Spirit," which turns 30 later this year.
The hitmaker posted a clip to his socials Monday of him kickstarting an instrumental cover, which his band later joins in on for a full rock jam session. Ty casually slays his guitar performance while wearing a sweatshirt that reads Taylor Gang -- his record label founded by Wiz Khalifa.
The Featuring Ty Dolla $ign star has Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain tattooed on the back of his leg, which he told Spin in 2019 when he re-created Cobain’s iconic black-and-white cover for the magazine.
"The first time I ever actually loved a rock song was 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and then it made me go and listen to all of his sh--. I wish he would have lived longer to really give off everything and I wonder what he would sound like right now," he said during the cover story interview. "I definitely wanted to pay homage to Kurt because he's the rock star of rock stars. I'm just a sex symbol, I'm trying to get there."
