"Use This Gospel" appeared on Ye's ninth album, Jesus Is the King, in October 2019. A month after its release, Kanye announced that he was collaborating with Dr. Dre for the album's sequel.
It's unclear, however, when fans might be hearing new music by West. In recent days, the rapper and presidential hopeful tweeted that he's "not putting no more music out till I’m done with my contract with Sony and Universal."
In January 2019, Ye filed a pair of lawsuits against EMI, the song publisher that has administered the rights to his songs since 2003, and against Roc-a-Fella Records, UMG Recordings, Def Jam and Bravado International Group. EMI sued West in March 2019 for damages after what it called in court documents a response to his "efforts to renege on his bargained-for contractual obligations to the company." In January 2020, a settlement between West and EMI had been reached.
Earlier this summer, Kanye announced that his next album, Donda, would arrive in late July. The album, which Ye said would be accompanied by a movie, has not yet been released.
