Rod Wave, "The Greatest"

To claim he's "The Greatest" in his latest music video, rapper-singer Rod Wave first acknowledges the poor cards he was dealt earlier in life.

The St. Petersburg, Fla. native lays down the roots for his audacious rapping by remembering how he "got it off the pavement" and paved a new path for himself, as seen in his celebratory performance B-roll footage.

From making moves on the streets of his hood to having "the whole hood on his back" as a touring artist, he visualizes Drake's famous "Started From the Bottom" formula, which especially resonates with viewers when his friend shows off his arm tattoos that read "bottom boy survivor." When Wave flows into his melodic singing in the bridge about brighter days coming, he lets his listeners know that his come-up is not a closed chapter.

The 20-year-old artist continues writing his own story throughout his sophomore album Pray 4 Love, which he'll release tomorrow, April 3 via Alamo/Geffen Records.
