Chris Brown, Drake, Beyoncé & Lizzo Top Nominees For 2019 Soul Train Awards: Exclusive

Chris Brown, Drake, Beyoncé and Lizzo lead the slate of nominees for BET Presents: 2019 Soul Train Awards. In addition, the ceremony will air live for the first time from the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. ET.

Brown is the top nominee with eight nods, including best R&B/soul male artist, song of the year (“No Guidance” featuring Drake) and album/mixtape of the year. Drake follows with seven nominations, including two song of the year nods: the aforementioned “No Guidance” and Summer Walker’s “Girls Need Love (Remix)” featuring the rapper/singer. Beyoncé and breakthrough star Lizzo are tied with six nominations each, notably sharing nods for best R&B/soul female artist and song of the year for “Before I Let Go” and “Juice,” respectively.

Also vying in multiple categories are Khalid with five nods, J. Cole with four and H.E.R., Ari Lennox and Walker each receiving three nods. The complete list of nominations appears below.

Pioneering songwriting/production duo Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis will be presented with the Legend Award in recognition of a five-time Grammy Award-winning career studded with gold, platinum and diamond-certified projects by artists such as Janet Jackson, Boyz II Men, Usher, Mary J. Blige and Mariah Carey. The fifth annual Lady of Soul Award will be given to gospel star Yolanda Adams, who has won five Grammys and four Dove Awards.

Actors Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold will return as co-hosts for the second time as well as co-producers of this year’s awards. The show will air live on BET and BET HER with a one-hour pre-show beginning at 7 p.m. ET and post-show directly after. Connie Orlando, BET’s executive vp specials, music programming and music strategy, will serve as executive producer along with Jesse Collins and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay for Jesse Collins Entertainment.
