This week’s Billboard cover star DaBaby took some time to play “Fishing for Answers,” as he revealed who his favorite wrestler is, what inspired his No. 1 album Kirk, and which artist he would love to collaborate with.
Pulling questions from a fish bowl, DaBaby is prompted to answer questions such as what his favorite Lil Wayne song is, to which he names “Best Rapper Alive,” and what his favorite tour stop has been so far, to which he replies, “Oh, that's a hard one. Philadelphia. I think.”
Asked who is favorite wrestler is, DaBaby names The Rock, supporting his response by rapping a line from his song “Pop Star,” which references the wrestler. “Any '90s baby, The Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin had to be your favorite wrestler,” he adds. “But everybody like The Rock.”
Speaking of his recently released sophomore album Kirk, which debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart, DaBaby breaks down the inspiration behind the record, explaining that it stems from his father, his last name, and “the legacy that just had to be left with it.”
“It's about me and my DNA,” he continues. “My upbringing. What I know, what I don't know, what I wish to learn, what knowledge I wish to seek, what knowledge I already received, what I've turned into with that knowledge.”
Posed with the question of which current female rapper he would like to record an album with, DaBaby names Megan Thee Stallion. “She talk shit like I talk shit, and I'm a hot boy,” he explains. “Been a hot boy. So yeah, we'd burn that bitch down.”
