Nicki Minaj announced she was saying farewell to the rap game on Thursday (Sept. 5), tweeting, “To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, X in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me.” But fellow rapper Young M.A. and Minaj’s fans are checking if the news is real.

M.A. quote-tweeted the Queen rapper’s original message, writing, “You must be hacked,” with a confused thinking emoji. Fans were quick to mourn, including television network Freeform pleading, “This is not how Hot Girl Summer s’posed to end, Nicki.”

Other tweets included tearful Minaj GIFs and a snippet of her “Moment 4 Life” music video with Drake, where she sang, “Put it on everything, that I will retire with the ring/ And I will retire with the crown.”
