Special guests took the stage to honor victims of the recent mass shooting in the city’s Oregon District.
Just weeks after the mass shooting that took the lives of nine people in Dayton's Oregon district, Dave Chappelle hosted a block party benefit concert in the Ohio city on Sunday (Aug. 25).
The Gem City Shine was filled with special guests throughout the evening, which included performances from Chance The Rapper, Stevie Wonder, Teyana Taylor, and Thundercat. Entertainment Weekly also reported that Talib Kweli, Jon Stewart, and comedian Chris Rock joined Chappelle on stage.
"Today we're going to show the world that nothing will get us down," Chappelle reportedly told the crowd. "Dayton, Ohio, no matter what's going on, no matter how tough these times get, we hold our heads up high, because we know what we're about. And we're not just doing this for our city," he added. "We're doing this for every victim of every mass shooting in our country."
