Wednesday (Aug. 7) marks the start of a new musical chapter for DRAM. The "Broccoli" artist turned the page by calling on Grammy-winning singer H.E.R. for the soulful ballad, "The Lay Down," which premiered as Zane Lowe's World Record on Beats 1 earlier in the day.
“No one sings anymore. Ain’t no true SANGERS out there! Nobody’s taking it to the stage. No one’s pouring their heart out, but that pattern stops here," DRAM declared. With that message in the atmosphere, Big Baby DRAM knew he couldn't disappoint with his latest offering. The 31-year-old leaves his heart on the table for a distant lover on a syrupy duet alongside H.E.R.
"The Lay Down" is filled with luscious instrumentation featuring a standout electric guitar solo courtesy of watt to bring the tune across the finish line. Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith handles the drums, while Pino Palladino is on the bass, and keyboards from Ivan Neville of Dumpstaphunk.
