"Seeing this country become a better place been really his passion for a long time, not a new front for a campaign," Cardi tweeted.

Cardi B had some political thoughts she wanted to get off her chest on Tuesday morning (July 16). The "Bodak Yellow" rapper tweeted that the Democratic Party didn't do enough to support Senator Bernie Sanders and actually "let him down."

"I been reading about Bernie Sanders and I’m really sad how we let him down in 2016," Cardi wrote. "This man been fighting for equal rights, HUMAN rights for such a long time. Seeing this country become a better place been really his passion for a long time not a new front for a campaign."

Minutes later, she answered a fan who called her out for supporting Sen. Sanders even though she has ranted about paying higher taxes in the past. "I don’t mind paying taxes if I see on what am I paying my taxes on," Cardi replied. "It's sad that we pay so much taxes yet we don’t have free college education [nor] free healthcare."

After agreeing with Cardi B's sentiments on social security in a GQ interview from 2018, Sanders caught wind of Cardi's latest tweets and thanked her for her support on his Facebook page. "Thank you Cardi B! Our fight for justice is far from over and we are not giving up," he wrote. "Cardi B is right. We need to make public colleges and universities tuition free and pass Medicare for All."
