Offset is off the hook for a felony gun charge stemming from a July 2018 arrest, according to TMZ. Legal sources relayed to the website on Tuesday (July 9) that the Clayton County District Attorney's Office decided to drop the charges on July 1.

According to docs obtained by TMZ, the prosecution was ordered to back off by the U.S. Attorney's Office, as the feds feared that information could be leaked pertaining to a separate, much larger investigation. Docs say that Offset's vehicle was ordered to be pulled over by ATF agents as a possible link to the larger investigation at hand.

'Set had also been facing a pair of misdemeanors for possession of marijuana and an illegal lane change. Docs state that prosecuting the Migos rapper could "alert other potential future parties to the investigation and evidence that may support federal charges against said parties."

Billboard has reached out to Offset's reps and the Clayton County District Attorney's Office for comment.
