Alabama governor Kay Ivey signed the Alabama Human Life Protection Act into law on Wednesday (May 15). Rihanna used her platform to speak up on Thursday (May 16) and blast legislators in the state of Alabama, as well as the governor specifically.

"Take a look. these are the idiots making decisions for WOMEN in America. Governor Kay Ivey...SHAME ON YOU," she wrote in disgust on Instagram. Her post also included a photo gallery from the state's mostly Republican senate, which is filled with white men.

The act bans women in Alabama from having an abortion after just six weeks into their pregnancy. At that point, some women don't even know that they're pregnant. News of the act being passed has caused Rihanna, Kacey Musgraves, Janelle Monae and others to take to social media to condemn the action.
