Though JT remains incarcerated on fraud charges, that hasn't halted the Miami duo's success. After collecting a top 40 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Twerk" in February, the fiery twosome has served up another scorcher in "Act Up." This week, the anthem moves up from 36-30. The success of "Act Up" also helps strengthen their grip on the Emerging Artists chart, as for the fifth straight week, they maintain their spot at No. 1.
Is Lil Tjay The Bronx's Next Big Star?
Over the last few years, the Bronx has proven to be a gold mine for burgeoning acts, with A Boogie wit da Hoodie and Cardi B blooming into perennial stars on the Hot 100. The borough might soon have another success story with Columbia Records signee Lil Tjay. This week, Lil Tjay debuts at No. 32 on the Emerging Artists chart, courtesy of his smoldering features. Not only does he appear on Polo G's "Pop Out" -- which soars to No. 60 on the Hot 100 this week -- but also French Montana's latest single, "Slide."
Debuting this week at No. 32 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, "Slide" is certainly earning buzz, courtesy of Tjay's punchy Auto-Tune delivery. Although he has the potential to be a guest-star savant, don't underestimate the 18-year-old's solo tracks: his ambitious cut "Brothers" is a melodic ode to his early days in the streets and sits at 37 million views on YouTube.
YK Osiris Keeps Making Moves
Ardent supporters of R&B have been clamoring for a new heartthrob to take the genre by storm, and so far, YK Osiris is making his case to be the one to do it. After bubbling up with his amorous record "Valentines" last year, in February, Osiris landed his first Hot 100 record with "Worth It." This week, the song moves up two spots to No. 58 on the Hot 100; with two strong singles, the Florida-based crooner is positioning himself for a long run in the genre.
"There’s a lot of rappers right now but honestly not a lot of singers like me," Osiris told Billboard in February. "I’m young, and I’m singing, going crazy and hitting Billboard. I just started in the game. I’m going crazy with the streams on Apple, and I’m top 40 on the urban charts."
After coming in at No. 10 on the Emerging Artists chart last week, Osiris climbs his way up to No. 7 with the help of "Worth It."
