Last year, Childish Gambino and Rihanna were spotted together filming a mystery project together in Havana, Cuba. Gambino screened the flick during November's PHAROS Festival in New Zealand. Fans will have the opportunity to get a first look at Guava Island during YouTube's live stream of Coachella this weekend, the streaming service announced Monday (April 8).
Ads began to pop up on Spotify last week, saying that Guava Island would premiere during the vague timeframe of Saturday night on Coachella's opening weekend (April 13). Gambino is slated to perform earlier as a headlining act on Friday. It remains to be seen if the Atlanta creator will shed any light on the film during his set.
Guava Island also reportedly stars Black Panther's Letitia Wright and and Nonso Anozie. A trailer for the flick also surfaced in 2018. Crack Magazine pointed out in March that the film could possibly double as a visual album to go alongside Childish Gambino's final project, which is expected to release at some point this year.
