Watch Juice WRLD Talk Breaking Into Hot 100 Top 10, Wanting to Work With Travis Scott & More

Nineteen-year-old rapper Juice WRLD caught up with Billboard to discuss breaking into the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 with "Lucid Dreams" and some of his inspirations in music.

The musician revealed his top 10 hit was surreal, and he's feeling "very surprised" about the song's success. When asked what led him to sample Sting's "Shape of My Heart," Juice recognized the power of genre-bending, which he defines as "taking two things that you wouldn't think would go together and showing people that they could be perfectly put together."

While not all of Juice's songs stem from personal situations, he strives to make music that everyone can relate to. "Lucid Dreams" is a "love-hate song," he says, that details the dark parts and the obstacles that come from being in a relationship.

Juice outlined artists from Black Sabbath to Chief Keef as his inspirations, but shouted out Travis Scott as a favorite. He admits in high school when working on raps, "I used to be like, 'How would Travis say this?'" Although the two have never met, Juice hopes that one day a meeting could result in a collaboration.

This summer, Juice plans to play more shows, hopefully work on a tour, and get started on more projects. "Music is the best way that I can communicate with other people."

"Lucid Dreams" moves up to No. 4 on the Hot 100 this week, while "All Girls Are the Same" sits at No. 20 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart.
