The 10-episode Hulu series is in pre-production.

Dave East is the latest addition to the cast of Hulu's Wu-Tang: An America Saga, alongside Julian Elijah Matinez and Sopranos actor Vinnie Pastore, Deadline reports. The 10-episode series, created by RZA and Alex Tse, is based on the foundation of how the Wu-Tang Clan, one of the most iconic and influential hip-hop groups in history, came to be.

East will play Shotgun (based on Method Man) in the series, a charactor that has a gift for rapping and is also known as a popular Staten Islander who takes pride in being the assistant manager at the concession stand next to the Statue of Liberty.

East announced his role via Instagram to his fans on Tuesday.

Set in New York City in the 1990s during the height of the crack academic, the series centers on how the de facto leader of the group, RZA, worked to unify a dozen young black men torn between music and crime, to become "the unlikeliest of American success stories."

Martinez is cast as Divine, RZA’s older brother, and Pastore will play Larry, owner of a rib joint on Staten Island.
