Offset Announces Solo Album Title 'Father of 4,' Talks Cardi B & Fatherhood With 'Esquire'
Offset's much-delayed solo album finally has a title just hours prior to its arrival at midnight. The 27-year-old officially unveiled Father of 4 with an adorable video posted to social media on Thursday (Feb. 21) featuring his son whispering, "Father of 4 on the way." Set also sat down with Esquire for an in-depth feature, where he detailed some of the life experiences we can expect him to touch on in his solo debut.
Offset raps about growing up without his father on "Red Room," and he told Esquire that he hasn't had any contact with his dad since a phone call three years ago. "If my daddy called me right now, I'd get on a jet, buy him a house, give him a million dollars, and I won’t talk to him for another 10 years. At least I’d know he’s straight," Offset honestly declared.
The Quality Control artist's four children range from seven-month-old Kulture with Cardi B to 9-year-old Jordan, the athlete of his kin. "Fatherhood was missing in my life, and sometimes I have to be missing for work but it all come back to the little ones," he wrote to Twitter. "I’m setting them up for the future. I didn’t take the cleanest route to success I ran into walls and hurdles but I over came them I’m proud of me!"
As far as repairing his fractured relationship with Cardi, Set is just taking things day-by-day. "It's been good. We’re being more open to each other, raising our baby and taking things slowly," he explains of mending their highly publicized split.
Father of 4, which is produced by Metro Boomin' and Southside, will find Offset at his most vulnerable, truly opening up to his fans for the first time in his career. "I cried to myself while I was doing this album ’cause I was talking about my story and my kids," the Migos artist confesses. "When I did a song, I started getting memories of my grandma, my struggles, my partner that was killed, the thoughts I had while I was incarcerated, and my kids’ faces were there in my head. I love my kids, this is who I do it for."
