Black History Inspirations: GoldLink Shares Playlist of the Artists & Songs That Embrace Inclusivity

Joyce Ng

As part of Billboard's Black History Month celebration, we've asked Black artists spanning all genres to compile their own unique playlist exclusive to Billboard's Spotify account. Each song they've chose represents their love for the culture across the diaspora -- from childhood favorites to songs that make them feel free. Today, GoldLink shares his soundtrack.

“Black History in 2019 and beyond is all about inclusivity. We’re all flowers of the diaspora, and we’ve blossomed around the globe in so many different ways, and I think now is the time more than ever to celebrate that collectively. Black culture is pop culture, Black History Month is every month, and that’s something they want us to forget. What better way to remember than to highlight all of our differences as a singular people across the globe? We’ve come so far, and the way forward is building bridges to each other, and to spotlight those cultural figures doing the bridging -- from Washington DC, to Accra, to Melbourne, to Atlanta, to Havana, to Oakland, to London, and everywhere in between.”

GoldLink recently dropped his new single “Got Muscle” featuring PeeWee Longway and WaveIQ. The tune comes ahead of his forthcoming sophomore album, which he confirmed during a Soulection performance in Los Angeles earlier this month. Listen to his playlist that also features two songs that aren't available for stream -- UCB's “Sexy Lady" and The Hot Boyz's “Bling Bling” -- below.
