Roc Nation artist Freeway underwent successful kidney transplant surgery on Tuesday (Feb. 5). The "What We Do" MC took to Instagram to thank fans for their support and assure his followers that everything went according to plan.

"Thanks for the prayers and support, the surgery went well," the Philly native wrote from his Baltimore hospital bed, as he begins his journey to recovery. Freeway was diagnosed with End Stage Renal disease in 2015, which resulted in kidney failure, making him a prime candidate for a transplant once a healthy match was found.

The 39-year-old previously detailed the impact the disease has had on his life. "It was drastic for my family. It was something that we all weren't expecting. When I got the diagnosis, the first thing I did was go to the masjid, pray and ask God to help me with whatever the situation is," he told Okayplayer
