Black Thought and Salaam Remi perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Dec. 17, 2018.

Black Thought (co-founder of The Tonight Show's in-house band The Roots) and record producer Salaam Remi served up a suave rendition of “Conception” on the late night show on Monday (Dec. 17).

Backed by the rest of The Roots and an orchestra including a collection of violins, cello and a harp, Black Thought showcased his solo talents as he performed the track, which samples Marvin Gaye's "I Want You," and appears on his album Streams of Thought Vol. 2.

Driven by Remi's warm bass, the 47-year-old rapped, “Look/ I am no fashion model but/ I got fresh for photographers/ The camo coat had the collar up/ ‘Cause my emotions was bottled up/ And though the ocean did not erupt/ It turned up ’til it's loud enough/ To just make somethin' out of us.”

Watch Black Thought's performance, which earned props from Lin-Manuel Miranda and more, below.
