Jacquees Crowns Himself 'King of R&B,' Sparking Online Debate From John Legend, Kehlani & More

Georgia-born hip-hop artist Jacquees proudly gave himself a new title over the weekend: "King of R&B."

"I just wanna let everybody know that I'm the king of R&B right now, for this generation,” said the 24-year-old in a video he shared online. "I understand who done came and who done did that and that and that, but now it's my turn -- Jacquees -- the king of R&B."

Although Jacquees gave himself the title, it appears his fellow celebs aren’t so quick to agree. “Honestly I don't think there is a king of r&b right now,” John Legend tweeted. “Anyone consistently dominating the charts, selling out arenas, etc, a la Usher at his prime. Not a comment on quality. I think the throne is open right now.” He followed up adding, “Part of me is talking myself into saying Bruno or The Weeknd but I’m not sure they neatly fit into the genre.”

Others had their own responses to Jacquees' claims, throwing around names like Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar and making a few jokes about the title along the way.
