Chance the Rapper as Elderly Aldermen.

Chance the Rapper stars in an informative, yet comedic, new Chicagoist video that takes a deep dive into Chicago's political infrastructure.

Reporting as "Champ Bennett," Chance explains "something so grand, so mysterious, so important": Chicago's aldermen, who govern the city's 50 wards.

Chance gives a rundown on what exactly an alderman is, how one becomes an alderman and what roadblocks one might face to even be in the running. (At one point, he comments, "Wow, that shit sounds racist.”)

He also polls locals on the streets about their apparently limited knowledge of the the city's aldermanic elections and interviews candidates who are hoping to make a change.

Chicagoist is a local news and culture website that Chance purchased back in July. "I look forward to re-launching it and bringing the people of Chicago an independent media outlet focused on amplifying diverse voices and content," he said at the time.
