During a candid appearance on Ellen on Friday (Oct. 26), Kris Jenner opened up about her son-in-law Kanye West's latest controversial actions and comments.

Although the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has nothing but love for the rapper, she also believes his strong opinions are sometimes shared in the wrong time and place.

“Kanye’s an amazing son-in-law. He’s an amazing dad and husband and friend and brother-in-law. So we know my son-in-law, Kanye," she told host Ellen DeGeneres, adding that she believes that her job as a mom is to always support her kids. “I think what I really want to do is be there to help him be the best version of himself that he can be." Quickly, DeGeneres clapped back "But is he letting you be there?"

Jenner promptly made a point that, despite being a manager, she obviously has no control over anyone's actions. “You can’t control what somebody else is doing. I can’t always control what any of them do at any time. It’s really hard. You have kids and they might have a totally different opinion or view about something. And his are very strong. He has a big voice and he has a lot to say.”

As for West’s "spontaneous" sit-down with President Trump at the White House earlier this month, she would rather the rapper share his opinions outside of the spotlight. "That was so Kanye. He was sharing thoughts and things of himself. But I would rather he share some of that stuff privately. Obviously, that would be great. But I need to be able to show him that I'm here if he needs me."

"He definitely has his own thoughts and opinions and he gets very excited about that," she said. "You’ve known him a long time, I’ve known him a long time, and he does have different sides to him. And this is a side that nobody’s seen before."
