Nipsey Hussle & Buddy Flex Throughout L.A. in 'Status Symbol 3' Video: Premiere
Nipsey Hussle continues to ride through 2018 in support of his acclaimed Victory Lap album, which released back in February of this year. Another standout cut from the album received the visual treatment on Monday (Oct. 22), as Nip drops off the cinematic Buddy-assisted "Status Symbol 3" video via Billboard premiere.
The 33-year-old takes listeners on a journey riding through the concrete of Los Angeles, while passing city mainstays such as the Staples Center. "The idea on this one was just to get cerebral and bring the listener in to my mindset while I’m riding through traffic by myself," Nipsey tells Billboard. "I spend a lot of time in my car and come up with ideas, songs, and business concepts while I’m in that mode, so we wanted to expand on that."
Buddy finally makes his way to the video shoot after receiving a wake-up call from the Crenshaw rapper, who was in the midst of a solo smoking session. The pair of West Coast MCs reunite on set to exchange bristling rhymes, bringing the crisp Sergio-directed clip across the finish line.
The "Status Symbol" series looks to keep the momentum rolling into the next project, with another potential collaboration on the horizon. "'Status Symbol 3' was the third time Buddy and I collaborated on a record. We’ve titled the other two 'Status Symbol,' so we decided to make it a thing and keep it going on the album," Nipsey Hussle concludes.
