Kris Wu & Jhene Aiko Seek 'Freedom' in New Music Video: Watch
Released on Monday, the music video follows the release of “Freedom” on Sept. 14. A mellow hip-hop track from Wu, one of China’s most popular stars, he’s joined by the American R&B singer as the pair blend their vocals over a creeping, strings-fronted melody littered with his raps. The song peaked at No. 25 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart dated Sept. 29.
In the new music video for “Freedom,” the pair are seen floating in space and are flung apart in a Gravity-esque scene. With vivid cinematography and flickering images of the pair, the clip emphasizes the song's message of finding space within a relationship.
After growing to prominence within the Chinese entertainment world as a musician and actor, Wu signed with Universal earlier this year and has been featured in several Hollywood films. He's released multiple English-language singles over the past two years, and is expected to drop his first album in the U.S. market later this fall. His song "Like That" went to No. 73 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the chart dated June 2, his first entry on the singles chart, reportedly the first Chinese singer to cross over onto the chart.
