Lil Wayne Defends Interview With Odell Beckham Jr., Takes Shots at Sports Reporter Frank Isola
'Keep my name out your mouth,' Lil Wayne warned.
On Sunday (Oct. 7), before his game against the Carolina Panthers, New York Giants wide-receiver Odell Beckham Jr. sat alongside Lil Wayne for an interview with ESPN's Josina Anderson to discuss his team's early season struggles. The action wasn't well-received by NFL analysts, who thought it unnecessary for Tha Carter V MC to sit in.
On Tuesday (Oct. 9), Lil Wayne defended Beckham's interview and lambasted New York-based reporter, Frank Isola, for speaking ill on the All-Pro receiver. "Frank, I rock with you. I actually like you when you come on TV. I like your accent, your heavy New York, Italian, whatever accent. I like the way you do your thang," Weezy began in an Instagram video. "You say what you wanna say. You get your point across, but you mentioned my name. My name came out your mouth this time and when that happens, I'm gonna fire back at you."
"But Frank, come on. I know you're up there in New York and I know a little bit about New York," Wayne continued. "I spent a little time on an island out there called Rikers Island. I know a little bit about New York, but I don't know much about you, though. Fact is, you don't know much about me, so with that said, keep my name out your mouth."
Wayne then shifted his aim towards Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who took a stab at Weezy in regards to his sit-down with his Giants teammate. ("I don't watch Lil Wayne that much," two-time Super Bowl champ Manning had quipped.)
Wayne swiftly responded back to Manning with a jest: "Eli, every time someone badmouths you, I be the first one to say I got an uncle who's doing time, remembers seeing Eli, Archie, Peyton, Cooper, he remembers seeing them at five in the morning, every other morning on the schoolyard way before the students get there, practicing. I'm the first one to back you up."
