Last month (Aug. 18), ILoveMakonnen announced that he would be releasing a posthumous collaboration (that he co-wrote) between Lil Peep and XXXTentacion. Makonnen made sure the track came together in a tasteful manner and received approval from both of the fallen artists' mothers prior to "Falling Down" arriving on streaming services Wednesday (Sept. 19).

The somber tune was originally titled "Sunlight on Your Skin" prior to X's involvement with the song, who realized he desired to work with Peep following his tragic passing due to an accidental drug overdose last November. The "Tuesday" artist had both artists' go-to producers in John Cunningham and IIVI, so their sounds were properly distinguished.

"It came together from me and Lil Peep's session in London when we were working on our album there," Makonnen tells XXL. "We wrote the hook in the hotel, then went to the studio and laid the hook down on the track. We did it with a whole bunch of other songs in London, me and Lil Peep. Kinda semi-finished it, but we never really fully finalized it."
