SchoolboyQ announced that he will be delaying the release of his forthcoming fifth studio album following the death of his longtime friend and collaborator, Mac Miller. The announcement, made during his Chicago concert on Friday (Sept. 14), is the first time that the rapper has opened up about Miller's death.

The rapper took a brief moment to explain that getting back out onto the stage has been hard, but he has chosen to follow through to honor Miller's memory. “I shouldn’t even be here right now. But like I said, my n---- Mac would not want me to be in the house sad. He would clown me for some weird s---. I’m here today because it’s no way he would allow me to sit in the house and be a little b----. I’m not gonna’ be a little b----.”

He also added that while he has enough material to release the album, he wishes to wait to avoid questioning about his late friend. “I’ma go back, and I’ma figure out when I’ma put this fucking album out, because y’all are going to get this album. I promise that. I’m just not ready to walk into the radio station and the first thing they ask me is ‘So Mac Miller…’ I’m not ready to deal with those questions. I’m not ready to put nothing out right now. I’m sorry.”
